Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad

Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad is a WWII themed first-person shooter video game developed and published by Tripwire Interactive. It is a sequel to Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. The title focuses heavily on the Battle of Stalingrad. The game was released on 13 September 2011. The developers have stated that the game is a PC exclusive and have no plans to bring it to the consoles. The game contains many new features including a new first person cover system combined with blind firing, first person collision detection as well as an entire new system of statistics tracking and enabling player development.

Gameplay

Red Orchestra 2 is a realistic first-person shooter. Guns behave realistically, with bullet drop and spin taken into account. The game also takes away with elements of a traditional HUD like an ammo counter, forcing players to remember, or manually check, the approximate amount of rounds that are left in the gun's magazine. When reloading a weapon, the character checks the weight of the new magazine and determines if it is heavy (full or close to full) or light (empty or close to empty). The game's first person cover system allows players to hide behind all objects in the world to avoid gunfire. While in cover players can peek out to take more accurate shots or fire blindly. However the shape, size and composition of the object changes its effectiveness at protecting the player. Smaller objects may not cover the player's entire body and some may not stop bullets. Health does not regenerate over time or by use of medical equipment, but non fatal wounds must still be bandaged so no more health is lost through blood loss.

There are Tanks in Red Orchestra 2, with more vehicles added in after the game's launch. The interiors of each tank are fully recreated with either human or AI controlled characters manning each station. The level of detail was described by Tripwire's president John Gibson as rival or exceeding tank simulation games. Because of the extensive work required to recreate each vehicle, which Tripwire estimates to take three months each, the game launched with two tanks. The German Panzer IV and Soviet T-34. Two more tanks and two troop carriers are in production and will be added to the game for free shortly after launch.

Hard Reset

Hard Reset is a PC-exclusive FPS from The Flying Wild Hog, a Polish developer that is made up from members of the team behind Painkiller (People Can Fly), and former developers from CD Projekt Red and City Interactive.
The game features a cyberpunk plot. It draws inspiration from William Gibson, Neal Stephenson, and Philip K. Dick (especially Blade Runner in story). In gameplay, Serious Sam is the main inspiration; explosive barrels and large hordes of enemies will be prominent within the game. There is no multiplayer.

Reception

Hard Reset was released on Steam on September 13, 2011 and received mixed to average reviews. Reviewers cited the visual quality and the intensity of the gameplay as strong points, evoking comparisons to other "oldschool" shooters as Serious Sam or Painkiller. Common points of contention were the game's relatively short length, and the perceived difficulty.

A split-screen multiplayer mode has been confirmed, as has an online co-operative championship. In August 2011, Codemasters announced that the safety car will be implemented in the game following its absence in F1 2010, and that it will be available in races that are 20% of real race distance or longer. FIFA Manager 12

FIFA Manager 12 is a football manager simulation video game developed by Bright Future GmbH and published by Electronic Arts worldwide under the EA Sports label. It was released for Microsoft Windows on October 21, 2011. It is the eleventh game in FIFA Manager series of video games.

New features

The game will have more than 700 new features and improvements such as:
  • 3D match: A special highlight this year is the 3D game option. This area of the game representation is a matter close to the heart for a lot of fans of the franchise, so that this year a whole team consisting of designers, graphic artists and programmers have put the entire logic of the 3D mode to the test and completely reprogrammed large sections of it.
A new player AI, for instance, and marked improvements in terms of the substitutions, tactics and the conduct of opposing managers, e.g. after players are sent off, results from this. The new intuitive user interface makes it possible for you to retrieve all the data relevant to the game within seconds and to issue precise tactical instructions.
  • New club facilities: 25 buildings with a total of 289 configuration levels are reproduced in detail. In addition there are up to three stadia with up to 120,000 seats directly on the club grounds.
Buildings age and have to be renovated. Each configuration level has specific impacts in other areas of the game. As a player you are thus constantly faced by decisions to make and must develop a genuine strategy in terms of how you want to set up your club in the future.
  • Finances: The financial sector is also entirely new. Clubs and players have to first gain the trust of the financial markets through sporting successes. Realistic revenue of the main sponsors help to exactly reflect the large financial differences between top clubs and a smaller club in the game.
A stock exchange with club shares should, of course, not be absent. In the sponsorship sector there are also numerous improvements, such as the sponsors‘ pyramid or sponsors’ campaigns to obtain new partners. Moreover, there is the option of much more intensive interchanges with the main sponsor, who wants to be kept happy.
  • Transfer market: In the transfer section you can now field players in trials in test matches or commission a detailed analysis of the squad so the team's weak points can be specifically eliminated. Due to the fact that all the AI managers make use of these squad analysis options, the transfers will once again become even more realistic. In this way AI clubs can also cash in expensive stars who do not want to extend their contracts just before their contracts expire.
  • Classic areas in a new look: A whole range of new options will be available to you in the calendar. From the charity event to direct friendly match queries and extending to lactate tests, no wishes are left unfulfilled.
The training can once again be planned and implemented on a daily basis in individual units. The player development was made more realistic here which makes the games even more challenging especially at the higher difficulty levels. A special fitness coach will now also offer you his services from the start of the season.
In the Weekly Progress sequence that can now be configured you can select your favourite statistics in a targeted manner and, for instance, precisely track the training or the building progress on the club facilities.
The instant calculation, the cooperation with your Board, the player talks, interviews and the Personal Life feature were also extended.

FIFA 12

FIFA 12 (titled FIFA Soccer 12 in North America) is the nineteenth game in Electronic Arts' FIFA series of association football video games. It was developed by EA Canada, and published by Electronic Arts worldwide under the EA Sports label. David Rutter, the line producer for FIFA 12, promised "a revolutionary year for FIFA ... especially in the gameplay department."
An "Ultimate Edition" of the game will be available through Game and Gamestation stores. It includes four monthly Ultimate Team gold packs, with each pack containing 12 items including players, contracts, stadiums, managers, staff, fitness, healing, footballs, kits and badges. Each pack contains one rare item, such as enhanced player attributes, longer contracts and the most coveted players. On 22 June 2011, EA Sports announced that the Microsoft Windows version of FIFA 12 will have the same engine, features, and competitions as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions.
Along with several other new EA Sports titles, FIFA 12 was available three days early to purchasers of the EA Sports Season Ticket.
The release date of the FIFA 12 demo was announced at the Gamescom event in Germany on 16 August; the demo was available from Xbox Live Marketplace and EA's Origin Store for Microsoft Windows on 13 September 2011, though the Playstation 3 demo was not available in Europe until the following day.

Gameplay

Three major gameplay changes have been implemented in FIFA 12; these are the Impact Engine, Tactical Defending, and Precision Dribbling.
In development for several years, the Impact Engine improves collision variety, accuracy, and momentum preservation. A new advanced procedural animation system is used along with collision physics to produce different results depending on the players and physical forces involved. This affects all players, so even those off the ball may have collisions. The Impact Engine has been cited as a game changer, making FIFA 12 less structured and synthetic than its predecessors, and has been described by producer David Rutter as the biggest technological change to the series since the transition to the current generation of consoles. The Impact Engine also directly affects injuries sustained by players during a match.
The new Tactical Defending system aims to change the approach to defending by placing equal importance on positioning, intercepting passes and tackling. When defending there will be more of an emphasis on slowing attackers down and containing them, and pressuring them into making mistakes. This is intended to be a more manual form of defending, requiring greater timing and precision when compared to the defensive "press" system used in previous FIFA games. The old system, now dubbed "legacy defending", where a button press causes an AI player to home in on the player in possession of the ball, can still be used offline, and in online friendlies and custom unranked matches.
The Precision Dribbling feature allows players to dribble whilst shielding, meaning you can still move around the pitch whilst holding players off, rather than being rooted to the spot. Close control has been added below jogging as a way of allowing players to take smaller, more frequent touches, keeping the ball closer and keeping tighter control. Players will now be much more aware of their surroundings. As an example, players in possession near the touchline will understand their position, and keep tighter control of the ball to stop it running out of play.
An improved artificial intelligence system named Pro Player Intelligence aims to make AI-controlled players react to the skills and capabilities of other players with appropriate actions. For example, a winger will be more likely to cross the ball into the box when he has a waiting team-mate with aerial ability, whereas he might look for support and play the ball along the ground if that team-mate is less of an aerial threat. Players will also make better use of their own strengths, so for example a creative player might look for less obvious opportunities such as playing long accurate passes, where another player in his situation would be more likely to play it safe with a short pass.
Match presentation has also been overhauled with a new default camera angle and improvements to the broadcast-style match build-up. Some in-game cutscenes have been removed, such as those before throw-ins and corner kicks. Instead, a player will simply run to perform the task in question with no interruption.
